I just watched The Amityville Horror and being the age I am, I am afraid of it and I get really bad nightmares
Answer:
Try and find a relaxing activity that soothes you prior to going to bed. If you like the smell of lavender get a spritz or linen spray that has that scent to help relax your body and mind.
Find an inspirational or funny book to read before you turn out the lights. I like chicken soup books. They are quick to read and always have a nice little moral too them.
When you wake from the nightmare write down what you remember about it and remind yourself that you are safe and that you aren't going to be harmed.
Don't watch any more horror movies before bed time.
Don't feel bad about it bothering you. Those movies even bother my husband. At least it means you aren't into the gore and violence that so many people in todays society seem to take as the norm. Most of society is desensitized to the horror of what actually has/had taken place.
Sweetie, I am 31 y/o, and I still cannot watch thriller movies without having nightmares. So I just don't watch them.
That is because we were not created to watch horrifing things. You brain is playing it over and over like a recorder. God tells us to becareful of what we allow to enter in. What we listen to .watch, talk about and etc.
You need to try and replace those tormenting thoughts and fears knowing that God loves you and all demons bow to Him. They fear His powerful name of Jesus Christ.
You don't need to fear them if you are a child of His.
Pray to Him and ask Him come into your life. God will not intrude on anyone without an invitation.
Read your Bible and the promises He has for you. You will soon see that these strongholds that these demons have on your nightmares will fade away.
amityville posession is scarier dont watch that, its the scariest
yeah that movie sucked but it scared the crap out of me at 28 too lol. What I do when movies scare the hell out of me is I sleep with the TV on (something cheesy like nick at nite) and make sure to watch only funny movies for a while till you can put it out of your head. Also maybe using your i-pod or portable CD player with some tunes you like might help turn off your head.
