Wats the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist ?

Answer:
Hiiiiiiiiiiii

A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in psychiatry and is certified in treating mental illness. As part of their evaluation of the patient, psychiatrists are one of only a few mental health professionals who may prescribe psychiatric medication, conduct physical examinations, order and interpret laboratory tests and electroencephalograms, and may order brain imaging studies such as computed tomography or computed axial tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography scanning.

A psychologist is a scientist and/or clinician who studies psychology, the systematic investigation of the human mind, including behavior and cognition. Psychologists are usually categorized under a number of different fields, the most well-recognized being clinical psychologists, who provide mental health care, and research psychologists, who conduct substantive and applied research.

Its pretty easy to read theres like ten dot points and it tells you all you need to know.
A psychiatrist is a doctor (MD) and a psychologist is not.
pychiatist deal with crazy people.
psychologist give conusultaiton to normal people
The main difference is in their training. A psychriatrist has a medical degree and then choose a speciality in psychology. They are like any other medical specialist and can thus, provide drugs. A psychologist has a psychology degree and then either does further study or training to be a psychologist but no medical training.
A psychiatrist is an M.D., he or she went to medical school and did an internship and residency. As posted above, a psychiatrist can prescribe medication, but I think a psychologist can as well. A psychologist has a degree but I know less about the requirements. Probably a master's degree. Some of them have M.S.W., Master of Social Work, after their names on their business signs.

I know that a psychiatrist must have a medical license and would guess that a psychologist must also be licensed as well.
A PSYCHIATRIST is a Medical Doctor, who has been to medical school and completed at least a three year residency in psychiatry. Psychiatrists can prescribe medications, and when it is deemed necessary, to administer electroshock therapy treatments (also known as electroconvulsive therapy, ECT). They are especially skilled at taking care of patients who are hospitalized and who suffer from severe mental illness, including schizophrenia and bipolar disease.

A PSYCHOLOGIST usually has a PhD in psychology but cannot prescribe medication. Psychologists are especially skilled in assessing various kinds of thinking and learning problems, and provide counseling and therapy
Depends on the country-
In US psychiatrist holds a MD degree in psychiatry. The specialisation is done after basic training in medicine and can treat patients using different methods including pharmacological methods- medicine, ECT etc.

The psychologists holds a PhD in psychology from an APA approved program. The specialities of psychology are many and diverse. Can be a clinical, counselling, school, educational, health, family, consumer, neuropsychology, animal, Telepsychology, para psychology and the list goes on and the APA has got 56 divisions. Depending on the specialisation the psychologist performs the work. Clinical psychologists who have undertaken training in psycho pharmacology are given the license to prescribe medicine in some of the States of USA.

Internationally, psychiatrists have the right to prescribe medication and treat persons with mental disorders.

But a psychologist in some developing countries have only a bachelors degree in psychology and work in different settings like hospitals, de-addiction centres or in teaching.... the list goes on. Depending on the country, those having Masters degree in psychology with specialisation in clinical psychology work in hospital or clinical set up and provide, psychological assessment, treatment through psychological methods like psychotherapy, behaviour therapy or other forms of therapy.
It is a diverse field and the difference between the two depends on where the psychologists choose to work. Philosophical psychologists, Historical Psychologists and economic psychologists engage in different methods of study when compared to the comparative or environmental psychologists. And there are child psychologists who are totally devoted to the study of the different aspects of child development. Fascinating ?
