What is some good coping skills?

My girlfriend used to cut herself but her parents found out and took away all sharp objects. Now she really has a hard time stopping and is in pain with it. Ive heard that cutting is a coping skill and that all she needs is another coping skill. What are some really great coping skills i can introduse her to to help her?

Go to this site for some great coping skills:

Also including individual therapy, and a skills group that teaches skills for tolerating distress, increasing awareness of surroundings (mindfulness), regulating emotions, and interacting effectively with others.
All this can help someone who cuts themselves!
But continue to be there for her and show her your love! Volunteer to go with her to therapy, let her talk and listen. Let her open up to you and continue to be supportive!
Check out this site it is very informative and may be helpful to you and allow you more ways to help her.

I wish you the best of luck and her also! God Bless!
smoking a blunt fareal..but um when I get angry thats what I do or I punch a wall or just count to ten slowly and think of how things will get better..sounds like it wont work but it will.
first of all this is serious. she needs help and more than just swapping one coping skill for another. there is a major problem that she is not dealing with that is causing her to feel such emotional distress. if you care about her try to get her to talk to you and then try to get her to find help she needs someone she can talk to to help her sort out her life
That is a really hard one to answer because when someone cuts themself, it is problem in the brain. I meen no offense by that but I have a cousin who does that and the only answer I can give is that she needs to find her own way, something more healthy, not that you should let her do it by herself, you should be right beside her. The only thing I know is God, I dont know if she or you believes in God but He can help.
The cutting is result of severe anxiety. The anxiety builds, and she cuts herself to release it. She really needs a regimen of medication and some therapy. That's where she'll learn new coping mechanisms. It's a complex medical disorder and there really are no single coping mechanisms that will do the trick.
if she like pain get her in boxing, believe me
those @#$%ing punches hurt more that cutting ,and she'll workout that built up of stress , but she has to train to fight and not to TAKE BOXING CLASS those dont work
if she cant cut herself she can take a hard *** hit to the face
