I think it's impossible for anyone to say with any certainty 'who' we are.
I for one 'know' that I am spirit and energy in a mundane body. This is the part where religion and beliefs have some part, but not all.
Anyone else we come into contact with can be somewhat the same, but each of us is different. We cannot all be the same on the inside, even though we reflect many of the same interests.
I've never felt as though I've known anyone exactly; but I do feel that if we did, then much of the mystery about that person would be gone and then boredom would set in. If we know each other too well, then it's like knowing the end of the book too soon. In other words, it is only right for the book to play out and when life gets to the ending, it is time for us to know the other completely.

No. Everyone hides a deeper, usually darker, side. I pretend to be pretty nice in real life... but I secretly hope everyone around me fails in life - I'm #1.

We deny it often because we don't want the truth. We talk, imagine, remembering, dreaming, thinking and doing things to ourselves.
Sometimes we find someone of that same nature. "one like myself" and we feel this "I know you" vibe. And "I understand," comes into play.
Deep inside of you is someone that knows you better than your present state of mind, better than someone else. Your conscience, your inner demon, the culmination of you. Do some soul searching or just keep asking everyone else what you should think, do, eat, like, fear, hope, dream, etc. etc.
