Does reading make you tiredzzzzzzzzz?

i was reading today. a great book. read 50 pages in a striaght shot. i'm not used to reading much, but it was just so good. after i quit, i had this incredible fatigue, like i coudl barely stand up or avoid sleeping. it was 4 pm. LOL What do you do to keep youserlf away from extreme drowsiness while reading?

Answer:
Try to take a break every once in a while and move around to get some blood going...Or is you can't put the book down, get up and move around while reading...that's what I do =]
That always happens to me too. Have yet to figure a way to avoid this.
It must make me tired to. I read every night before going to sleep.
It depends on what book I'm reading. I can read for hours with no problem if it's interesting, but some put me to sleep.
I think you worked your brain too much...hmm just close your eyes and relax, listen to music maybe...
-music
-coffee
-energy drinks
-standing up while reading

i have no idea if any of this would work though
well it happens to me too ,
but try to picture everything out and imagine
the characters and all
Take a break once in a while and drink tea. I always get sleepy around 4 pm, too.

Stretch and yawn, then get a drink of water.

Best wishes.
Yes, like my grandpa. Expecially now that I'm older.
Get up and drink a glass of water
ohhh! dude haha i get the same problem. for one of my english exams i had to read three books in one night <-- yes procrastination doesnt do me any good

anyways, im not quite sure how to resolve this problem, i think its from focusing your eyes so much and being in strong concentration.

personally, i drank 6 energy drinks. i worship caffeine.
couldnt do without

:)

haha maybe taking a nice relaxed bath and a little nap prior to reading will help you already feel refreshed!
If you were tired after reading its probably because you made your brain work harder by reading
if i love the book i could read for about 200 pages or so. i just drink somejuice or cola and light a cigarete.
Hmm, well, usually when I read, I'm laying in my bed, so after I've stopped myself reading (I can read a lot - have to make myself stop lol). So, when I'm finished reading, I lay in my bed for about 5-10 minutes, not closing my eyes, and it usually gets me up and going again.
Well, I am happy to know that I am not the only one with this problem. If I am at all sleepy during the day and want to stay awake, the last thing I would want to do is read. I would be out before I finished the first couple of sentences. If I have already started to read, the best way to avoid extreme drowsiness is to put the book down and go do some physical exercise like wash some dishes, do some weeding, play with my cats, call a friend on the phone, or even drink a cup of coffee...Just a few things I try.
Drink tea or coffee. Chocolates too will also have the same effect
Take a break; then, start reading again..i guess.
Reading is something that is a very large part of my life. I don't get tired but I do get relaxed and feel calm after reading. When I'm reading a good book I can become part of the book like a character in the story. I seem to enter the story line and it becomes part of me for the lenght of the book.
I had a very hard time learning how to read so when I became able to do so well I've been obsessed with reading almost anything and every thing I can get my hands on. Books, magazines and almost anything else that's reading material.
seems like we hav the same image.hehe...i will not reading in the same position allllll the time
I like reading when I'm in bed for the fact it relaxes me & lets my mind slow down, nice way to relax and get ready for snoozing ^^ but i guess if you're reading for studying etc & want to stay awake get some bright lamps & sit up straight, don't get too cosy.
