Why is it that when I see a group of black people on the street I suddenly think that they might rob me?

I have this paranoia it usually happens with black people or sometimes when there are a group of 3-4 latino guys on the streets I have the feeling that they're gonna rob me?

Is there a way to get rid of this feeling?

Answer:
If you're in the wrong neighborhood of any big city, that's not paranoia...that's reality.
LMAO
LOLOL. I'm not touching that one with a ten foot pole.

Carry on, fellow YAzzers.
the tv tells you to fear different people try talking to them
because you're a racist dude. just let it out and say it. i don't like racist people.
Walk on the other side of the street.

3 or 4 guys in a group on the street should be avoided if you get a gut feeling something not good is going to happen - and it doesn't matter to me what they look like. FYI ---Sometimes chicks are just as dangerous.
In part, that would have to do with the racists attitudes that still exist in American media and society. It may also have to do with your association with races outside your own. We often fear what we don't understand. If you only associate with a certain race, you may have these feelings because all you know about other races is from what you see on television.

You may want to broaden your horizons. Meet some new people. I've found that when I make it a point to get to know people from outside my own race, religion, primary language and class, I have a better perception of the world around me, appreciate the differences in others, but most of all I realize that people are people. The differences that we try to make so significant really amount to nothing. God bless.
Well, if you play the role of Mr. politically correct nice guy on the streets of New York City, you'll probably wind up getting hustled, robbed, hurt, or dead really quick. Your instincts will keep you alive. Use them. I don't care what a person's skin color is, if i feel thretend in any way, my intincts are gonna let me know. I will always tell people to never discriminate, but at the same time, 75% of the prison system is black and hispanic, and believe me folks, nobody goes to prison for holding a bake sale.
Well it's understandable, I feel that way when I see a group of white guys standing on the corner..All jokes aside I'm suspicious of any group of men hanging out like that. Usually somebody is up to something. If it's late. at night..
You have seen the stereotyping and are buying into it.
Actually, THEY have more true reason to be afraid of YOU:

i was jumped by a group of black ppl like you discribe, and they claimed it was bc i was white/, they called me white trash even. (which is racist by the way!) i do understand that not all black ppl are like this, and that a person cannot judge a race by the actions of a group of people, but the only reason that there is still racism is because of people like this. i cant help it, why shouldnt i worry now?
"That feeling" will vaporize by the time people judge you because you have a different skin color...
Someone taught you this by example or with words.
Children are soooo impressionable.
cuz black people are scary lol and you probably feel this way cuz you hear and see a lot of black criminals on the news
because it happens so much.
