This question could take forever to answer, but I will keep it short.
The beneifts are the instant money and if you stay at a certain club you can pretty much set your own schedule. You can make a lot of money in a short amount of time.
The cons are endless, and I will list a few. Most girls stripping do use drugs, but not all of us, we are few. If you don't already have really strong self worth or opinion of yourself, it will tear you apart and take you lower than you thought possible. Believe me no matter how pretty you are people will say horrible, awful things to you, and treat you like a dirty dog.
There are men who prey on women with low esteem and they will use you up and throw you out.
Most likely you will have to lie to your family and some friends about what you really do, and worry someone you know may come into the club some night.
Dating will also not be easy for you, most men think your a whore if you strip and want nothing to do with you or wont take you seriously. Look at all the comments from the users already. They think we are jokes, yet I'm sure most have been to a club.
It took me years, years to find a man who accepted me & my work, and even now some days it's hard on him, not easy on a relationship at all.
You also will not be able to declare your income, unless you want to pay extra high tax ( entertainment tax). Without being able to declare your income you cant get a place to live, a visa card, a car, etc. You will have to hide from the IRS.
I have worked with women up into their 40's who still dance and are very popular. It depends on how healthy you keep your body, and most importantly your mind.
I can be done if it's a job you truly desire, but it's hard, very hard, not easy, and is full of heart break. You become close with many girls and it's always sad to see them go down and get eaten up by the life. Not pretty. You also have to be "ON" at every moment even when your sick, or your boyfriend just left you, or your having family problems, or your tired, or you just feel like choking the men, its your living and your attitude is everything. I would not suggest it, however it is very much in style right now as so many of the songs and videos make it look glamourous. That is not real life.
You really need to think about it, if I could take you with me for a week just to hang out in the back I would. I bet you would make your descion before you ever hit the stage.

Every stripper I have met has had a history of sexual abuse in their past (yes, even the girls that are trying to get through college/med school etc. etc.) They don't seem to see the harm in what they are doing. It is just a job where they can make a quick buck and don't really need any skills/education to do it. It makes me kind of sad because I don't know if they are exploiting themselves because of their low self esteem and poor self image or they are liberated and taking advantage of the way things are. That being said, it really is a dangerous line of work because many women get into drugs and eventually stripping acts as a segue into prostitution.
(I apologize if my generalizations have offended anyone...)
When a stripper starts stripping and the money starts piling up,then the drugs start going up the nose,in the arm,or wherever else they can put it. They say,I am saving money to go to college,ha! I am not sure about the statistics but I bet over 75% percent never make it to college. Some can make it because they stay away from the drugs. Most numb themselves so they can get through another night of gross icky men,that are slobbering octpusses and should be at home communicating with the wife.They think Mr Right will come in and rescue them. They think they won't be stripping long,but the money runs dry because it's all up the nose,or again wherever. It is a vicious cycle. Some women strip because they see no other way to raise their kids alone and make a better life. The job allows them to raise their children,go to college at the same time..They will be lucky not to fall victim to the drugs,alcohol and pills.
When the beginners become a little older then another batch of younger new girls come in. Some of the older ones feel bitter,and some are jealous. Some that induldge too much get fired. Thats no big deal,they just go to Sugars down the road..They get taken advantage of,because when they do go out with a man,well she should put out.No,unless you show her those greenbacks. Some end up in jail,rehab, or dead. Yes,there are some older women,like 50 plus out there.They are like the Mother hen to the other ladies..
Stripping is an easy way out or an easy way in to get what they(women esp the attractive ones) want. It doesn't make any sense that a person is 'forced' to strip or go sell out their dignities and has no respect for themselves.
