Why do some people enjoy mocking and humiliating themselves?

Why would someone choose <loser> or <feces> as his nickname? What causes people to enjoy humiliating themselves?

Either they’re not taking themselves seriously or as in the case of choosing weird nicknames say for YA, maybe they’re not taking this site very seriously. If it’s the former this could be due to their low self-esteem. They might not feel they deserve a more respectful name. They may have trouble viewing themselves positively and they’re therefore always putting themselves down or demeaning themselves. These type of people are likely to have problems with intimacy too.
