How do I stop being nervous during a speech?
Answer:
it happened to me today, make a good joke or laugh towards the audience you may lower your nervousness on the stage so make it funny so that people will listen to you or you won't get a comfortable feeling while your on stage, well it works for me
practice in front of people and get used to large crowds...that about all i can offer ;( sorry
Practice. The more you speak in front of a group of people, the better you'll get at it. Depending on your audience, you might be able to make a joke about it. "Stop staring at me, you're making me nervous!"
Seriously though, research your material carefully and make sure that you understand it fully. Make clear crib notes that you can use for reference while you're speaking if it's allowed. Stand in front of a mirror and practice. If you can, have a friend sit and watch you.
When speaking, speak slowly and clearly. Enunciate your words. Speak in a language that your audience will understand. You don't want to use technical jargon if your audience is not technically inclined. As you speak, pick audience members in different areas of the audience to look at. Some in the back, some in the front, some on the left, some on the right. Look at a spot between their eyebrows if you're not comfortable making direct eye contact. People will feel that you're engaged with your audience and pay more attention to what you have to say.
Good luck!
Just pretend everyone is naked!
start out by dropping your pants
you probably have this one student in your class that just gets up confidently , walks up to the front of the class and starts their speech clearly projecting their voice and has a look of confidence...that's me...BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT MY HANDS ARE SWEATY, I AM SHAKING LIKE A LEAF AND MY THROAT IS DRY.it's all to do with acting..
what helps me is to stand in front of the mirror at home and recite my speech over and over again.try to visualise your classmates and then try to look beyond them..
when you stand in front of the class to deliver your speech try not to let anything catch your eye as that distracts yoiu very easily.
also , before you deliver your speech take a few minutes to prep yourself...give yourself a pep talk...build up the confidence.
good luck
Get drunk :D
Seriously, most of the calming homeopathic remedies for stress contain alcohol. Anyways, just breath deep and relax, Try and memorise a song, and if you freeze up, just sing the song to yourself in your head.
