Do you believe that Obesity is socially contagious?
Answer:
if its socially contagious, then why isnt everyone infected with obesity? try infecting a person whos anorexic.
Fat people are greedy clowns.i dont want to be a part of that.
Interesting. I certainly think it's possible. Lets say you're hanging out with your friend who is packing on the pounds. Well they are probably eat a lot, so you'll be more inclined to join . They are also just sitting around doing nothing and not exorcising.
Another thing would be if your friends are all fit, you'll probably be more inclined to work out, especially if they ask you to join them in that.
I can definitely see how a group mentality could work either way.
don't know about obesity...unless of course you throw in being an idiot is contagious too...then yeah, i could almost see it happening!
thats a very interesting question.i dont think i was going in the direction yahoo was going (from what u've told us) but i do agree to some extent that having many obese ppl in society allows it to be seen as normal and thus easily spread itself (no pun intended).i dont think one necessarily needs to be labelled as obese to start packing on the pounds.instead, seeing many obese ppl around may make uncontrollable eating a bit easier and thus allow for obesity.
great question.had me thinking.thanx :)
LOL! I was just about to ask this question because I read the link. Hell NO!! I have a very obese friend, and I work out and eat right. We eat out ocassionally, but of course she picks the fatter ingrediants. ON the other hand.I work my *** off in the gym. She rarely goes. Obese does not just happen like that. You have to be raised on eating terrible foods, and not exercising, and eating late at night and etc...SO NO! It's not contagious. It's your body-you choose what goes in your mouth. Not your friends.
Well that's interesting. I think that maybe there's a lot of different variables that go into play...including a person's age, sex, maybe self-esteem, values.but it's definitely a possibility. After all, if i go out to eat with some friends at a burger joint, all of whom, order burgers and fries, it's going to be hard to be the only one to order the salad. A lot of people surround themselves with friends that are very equal to their own "status, morals, likes.etc." Obesity is a disease but also a lifestyle. But I can see where being around a person with a need to eat a lot and constantly being subjected to food can make a person feel the need to eat more.
I think its the oppposite in fact.
If we see obese people, munching away on a bunch of food, why would we be like, hey lets eat like them so we can be obese, unhealthy, more prone to illneses, and out of shape?
Id be like wow, I better make sure I dont end up like that poor sap.
Only weak individuals fall into that trap. Stop being followers, and start being leaders. Instead of letting them alter your life, you choose your own path and actions and make them follow you. Start working out, playing more sports, eating healtheir, and make your fatass friends join you. You dont follow them because they clearly made the wrong choices.
