In terms of psychological dependance, how does cannabis compare with heroin?
Anyone who has seen trainspotting would also know. There will never be a movie about stoners wanting to go clean.
Answer:
heroin is about 100 times more addicting psychologically than cannabis, the addictiveness of cannabis is highly variable, but is actually a bit easier to treat than cigarette smoking.
No comparison.Heroin attaches itself to cells in brain that actually lock in,and is additive, physically.Ask any junkie.
There is no comparison at all.
After 20 years of chronic use, I've been almost 10 years smoke-free
additional comment: what do you think about the term "smoke free". Never tried horse but it's effects on users is well enough documented to make the comparison.
It was socially harder to give up the root than it was psychologically and physically. Herion users tend to be less socially interactive so the addiction is totally physiological.
Nicotine and caffeine are both tougher to give up than pot, both in the mind and body.
About 10 years ago the fear was with the paranoia and potential suicidal ideations of cocaine which was used as a topical anesthetic and later a brain anesthetic. Heroin is another such drug that takes all the happy chemicals in the brain (neurotransmitters like dopamine, nor epinephrine, serotonin) uses them up and then you need another fix to get another hit of pleasure. Unfortunately only so many of those chemicals are released on a daily basis so there is a frenzy to recapture the original high, that is never achieved.
