It is a matter of how your friend feels. If he can find a safe harbor where all is well and he wont be hurt for doing so he will. We all do. The real truth is that in learning to accept ourselves with so much shortage of information. Alexander the Great wasn't in much of a closet when he accidentally got too far ahead of his soldiers and fell over the enemies wall, even though clearly homosexual, he would not have thought it to be so much fun if the enemy, no less homosexual, had got their hands on his sweet rear.
Sexuality isn't so much a question of being gay or straight. It's more of a continuum rather than an either/or. It's pretty normal for people to have some kind of attraction to or fascination with a person of the same sex. Many people, though, are taught that this is entirely wrong, which leaves them very confused, ashamed, whatever.
I also think that people are much happier when they can accept themselves wherever they fall on the continuum. I think he should pursue the interest and determine whether the attraction is genuine.
Yes it is. The characteristics of the person the traits and things you like about them are what you have a crush on. Unless the thing you like is the way her/his look in a pair of jeans. But even then that could just be jealously. Sorry the point, don't worry so much about it. Crushes come and go, and happen with all different kinds of people. It's harmless really.
