I am so depressed. I don't have health insurance but I don't qualify for free medical care.?
Answer:
I don't know what advice to give because I have never been in that situation, but don't worry- I'm sure things will work out if you try! Everyone goes through stressful and rough times in their life, but if you keep a positive outlook on life I am sure things will fall into place. If you haven't been handling the situation well, you can always try again and it is never too late to change and make things better. If you need someone to talk to, you can always email me and I will be glad to listen! I hope this helps and I hope everything works out for you! =)
I've been through that myself. Can't you borrow the money from someone without telling them what it's for? Depression can really mess up your life if you don't feel like doing anything and don't take pleasure from anything around you.
If you really can't get medication, try to think positive, maybe join a support group or something...
Many clinics have sliding-scale fees based on how much money you earn. Could be you could get therapy for a few bucks a session. Also, most pharmaceutical companies have assistance programs to help people with no insurance in which if you qualify you can get meds for free. Have to go through your doctor though.
Point 1:
Read your Bible, get down on your knees and pray, and get your butt in church. Your Christian brothers and sisters await your pain, await with offers of help. Do it! Receive God and you'll receive so much more!
Point 2:
Hospitals MUST treat you, even if you have no money and no insurance. There are LOTS and LOTS of programs for the poor. Mental health services are out there. Don't just throw in the towel.
Point 3:
MANY if not most if not all pharmaceutical companies have drug programs for low-income families. Ask your doctor for help in contacting the drug companies for assistance. If he can't help you then use google. Type in the drug manufacturer's name and key words such as patient assistance or the drug and patient assistance. You'll see a lot of help.
PRAY on all of this! I'll pray for you too. Lord bless.
Been there, done that... no fun.
I know what you're going through and believe me it, nothing that anyone can say will make it any easier.
However, a freshly baked oatmeal cookie helps.
Seriously tho', many people are in your situation, so don't feel alone. There are a number of free clinics that are there to help. Contact your local health department for more info.
Please don't go it alone. There are folks who care about you.

If going to the doctor is out of the question because of money, you might want to consider finding another job, one that would have benefits. Try a temp service, alot of people find full time employment that way.
If you were depressed before, now you are again, it is very likely you will in the future too.
You have to try to make your life more positive and one way is to find a job that makes you feel good about yourself. It is hard to feel good when you aren't making enough money for basic needs! Going to the doctor is a need you must find a way to fulfill!
I'm sorry that you find yourself in this situation, but, staying in the job you have will only keep you depressed.
Well, if you want to have the benefit of the pills while not taking them you are going to have to work your butt off- difficult when one has depression.
Try yoga. The chemical release from one hour every day has the same chemical release that pills do- without the hassle of trying to find the right pill (and if you don't have health insurance for that, it can be a *****).
Also, I know you said not to seek counseling, but honestly you need it. If you are unable to pay for it or have the time to find the right therapist for you- then be your own therapist. Journal every day for at least an hour and a half. That way, you understand your thoughts and are more capable of working through them.
Small steps:
If you want another job you could consider it a goal to apply for an opening once a day and put it away.
Find a new hobby or pick something you already have skills in.
Invite and visit friends and family.
Start a scrapbook.
Exercise - make up your own routine or join a group activity.
Dust your camera off and go take some pics of nature
Eat healthy.too much junk food makes people cranky because they don't feel good physically
Write a note or send a card to an elderly person in your family pointing out the good things in your life..be cheerful the elderly are some times very lonely.

Make sure you are getting enough water. People who get enough fluids have more energy and dehydration will naturally cause people to be on edge.
Open the curtains or blinds every morning .make it routine.
Find a cool puzzle for times where you are bored.
Garden ...if no space try container gardening
Take a ballroom group class
Call those you keep *thinking* about getting in touch with.
