Help with a phobia?
This sounds really stupid, but I have a phobia of the wind. Everytime it gets really windy, I like, nearly have panic attacks. Its really embarrasing and if its really windy, I won't go out or do anything. I really do not know what to do, anyway of gettign rid of this phobia?
Answer:
Whenever you are afraid of something, you can only face it when you find out the reason that you are afraid. It is an important step in overcoming the fear.Ask yourself what you think will happen or did something bad happen to you that you may not consciously remember.Like,in your case did you have a bad experience during a tornado,a hurricane or any other bad storm? Your fear could come from something as small as seeing an image or hearing a horrible story.
you have to start with small stuff first...like a fan...use it to blow on you to get used to it...have it blow while you are watching tv...on low...then increase it...some people have problems because of the sensation their skin is feeling when the wind blows on it...if you cannot get the fan to work for you then you probably need to see the doctor because it may be that your skin sensitivity is so high you need medical assistance...good luck
It's not stupid, there are so many phobias.
But maybe try some relaxation exercises?
Or get professional help, because it seems difficult. Since wind is something that we can't control.
It depends. If this is related to your hair than maybe you have OCD.

What I found helps with fears is to make a positive relation with your fear. I personally love winds, they're so much fun to feel them and when they're really strong they can almost push you over, really it's harmless! You can hear the wind russel the trees and it's a perfect sound of nature, I love to listen to it.
If it interferes with your ability to go out and do things then you need to see a therapist.
There are several techniques that you can be taught to use like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Prolonged Exposure.
As hard as this may sound, many psychologist recommend something that's called exposure therapy. I would start off with contacting a really good psychologist.
