Answer:
This talks about instilling a response in someone that isn't natural.
It's like Pavlov's dog, Pavlov would ring a bell everytime before he fed his dog. It eventually got to the point that if the bell rang the dog would start to salivate (drool) in anticipation of the food. That isn't a natural response, he was conditioned to respond in that way.
The way you could provide an example of this in your own life is to find a something that you respond to in a way that isn't natural because you have been "trained" to react that way.
You're serious? You can't understand "conditioned" response? It means, it's something that you would not do naturally, but could be (or have been) taught this reaction. The example comes from Pavlov's dogs who would not normally and naturally salivate at the sound of a bell. Where in nature would they have picked that up?
Examples of conditioned responses?
How most everyone stands facing forward in the elevator. NOTHING in nature suggests that it's better to ride up or down facing one way or the other; yet, we as a society TEACH ourselves to all conform.
Let's see ...
We eat at meal TIMES instead of when we're hungry. But over time we find that the arrival of the meal time triggers the response. Example: While we might recall a minute earlier that we were not feeling hungry, as soon as we look up at the clock and see that it's "lunch time," we suddenly feel hungry. The point is that HUNGER doesn't (or shouldn't) care about a clock. To further drive home the point, hunger has existed since the creation of man, but the concept of time has not. We have conditioned ourselves to link time to hunger when no natural link exists in nature.
Others?
Putting a hand over the heart when we hear the national anthem. That is NOT natural, it is taught.
Post-tramatic stress disorder is a "triggered" reaction that was learned over time, under very stressful conditions.
Etc.
