i think that you want the same qualities in another person that you possess yourself.

People tend to attract like minded people, of course don't take this to mean you attract identical people but more like your level in life. Think of your five closest friends, i would bet the group interests are very similar, even motivation level. So if you don't like the people you attract, you have to change yourself.
Personality but looks are a bonus
I listen to everything a person says in the beginning and then make mental notes of any discrepancies that turn up later on. That's a way I weed out phoney people. I do take into consideration that a sense of humor may be involved so I don't pay attention to that kind of stuff but if someone tells you they don't like Mexican food one day but a week later they want to go to a Mexican restaurant - what's up with that? That's kind of a silly metaphor but that's what I mean. Other than that, I just pary close attention to how they treat other people, stuff like that.
It can. For me it does. I seem to gravitate to people who enjoy unplanned activities, trying new cuisines, ( cautiously), who have a healthy ego, enjoy conversations between us as well as groups, and who are comfortable with their position in society. So, what kind of person would you identify me as?
