Is there any connection between ADD and the inability to do mathmatics?
Answer:
i struggle with math too, i blame it on not having enough fingers and toes to count with
Well, the inability to concentrate is a symptom of ADD. As is hypomania. Maybe you should ask your parents to take you to a doctor to get evaluated. I'm living with bipolar and it's pretty easy as long as you accept it.
Math requires tremendous attention to detail. ADD stands for "attention deficit disorder".
im not sure my brother has ADD but he is really good in math but not on others things... you probably find it hard because you think its hard beforehand among my siblings and my parents im the one who is not really good in math but i took up and graduated with an accounting major... i learned to love math and solving problems by really practicing a lot and then gained confidence that i could actually solve a math problem... my grades in math are low before because i thought i was not good at it but with perseverance and support from my 'mathematician' family... i was able to befriend the numbers... my mom to feels she is not that good in math but she really has high grades in all her math and engineering subjects because of perseverance so... learn to love math and math will love you too!
I had to drop out cause I have ADD and you can not do math with ADD
its sad...
Honestly, it might be a sub-concious selective learning or just that as intelligent as you are, you have a subject you're not particularly strong in. There are many types of intelligence, and math intelligent may not be for you.
I was going to say I know those with ADD where it's just the opposite, that they are very good at math and science, but not so hot at reading, writing and reading comprehension.
Honestly, at some schools, if you are majoring in languages or history or anything that's not in the realm of science, you will have a "requirement" but it's not as much a burden as you may think. And once you are out of your Freshman year, likely you will never have to actually look at a complex math equation again.
