If you look at the big picture your going to scare yourself so babysteps okay? Make a plan and start with short term goal so they're easier to reach. Go to the DMV and get the Drivers Ed Book and Study it til you know it backwards and forwards or go to night school and take up the courses you need to complete your GED. Figure out what is the most important thing that needs to be done first, is it to get a job? Make sure its one that will allow you to go to night school and take a couple courses or work at night and adult school during the day. Choose your priorities and make you your priority. Even though your young your setting the foundation for your future so look at it that way, you got all the dumb things out of your system right? Now it's time to grow up and make a life for yourself so you can depend on you. Remember, write down your steps in order of priority and do them one at a time. okay? Good luck to you! I know you can do what ever you set yourself out to do if your put your mind to it. Just go for it!
you're not stupid. you've already taken the first step to get out of an environment that was unhealthy for you. make a list of goals or things you want to do and start there. i'm a huge believer in "if there's a will there's a way." things won't necessarily come easy but stay optimistic. as for education you can always get your GED. take one step at time one day at time. good luck!
I f you have extra money maybe you should take evening classes and learn to drive or get a drivers license now. You are still young and it is never too late. Maybe when you are out there you may even be able to help your mom also.
The most important thing is to get yourself that high school diploma or equivalency. Having that will give you many more options at improving your life and persuing your dreams.

In addition to that take a moment to congratulate yourself for deciding that you can do better for yourself and taking the first step in doing so.
If I were you, I'd focus on building up your resume. You probably don't want to go back to high school (though you could), so I'd study real hard and take a G.E.D. That way, you could enroll in a local community college, where you can take all sorts of classes that you actually care about and find something that you love. This way you wouldn't feel awkward going to school with a bunch of teenagers, heck, you'd be young at a community college! That would be the best way to find direction in your life, and increase your marketing value. Also, don't feel stupid. Everyone makes decisions they regret, but don't let that prevent you from fulfilling your potential! Moving out was an important step in the right direction. Hope this helps, and even more so, hope you find happiness and success in all your endeavors.
Congratulations, you have taken your first step in getting a life of your own.

Several decades ago, we had a saying "Today is the first day of the rest of your life". These words are true and as you mature you will find out just how true.

First and foremost, you need to complete your High School education or do a GED. Many Community Colleges offer GED classes and you could take your test there. This may be linked to a Pell grant to help you along financially with these classes. If not, then you would have to pay for it. Be bold and check it out. Once this is done, then the fun begins.

I would assume by this time you are starting to realize that there are certain career's that appeal to you, ones that you feel you could excel in. If not, start dreaming about it now, as you are preparing for your life to go into forward gear. Then, once you're ready to enter College, take some classes that will add to your knowledge of this career, as they will open your eyes to the realities of what will be needed and expected of you in whatever field you choose. This is a time for you to educate your mind in preparation for the rest of your life. You'll do well.

Get your driver's license as time and space permit. Public transportation is the least expensive form of transportation right now.

If there's one thing I know for a fact, it's that you are not to blame for your Mom's marital problems. They must bear their own blame for those problems, especially if they refuse to face them and deal with them. You can't do it for them. You have problems of your own.

You haven't wasted those years you spoke of, you have learned what you do and do not want in your own life. Now is the time to begin that life and don't let anyone stop you.

Remember what Winston Churchill said, at least I think it was him, "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself."

Live your life!

Good Luck!
