Hello! Why do former Child actors become Alchohol/drug addicts? Thanks :)?

Answer:
having lived in a 'spotlight" most of your young stars can also be devasting once the lights go off! the pressures of being in the public can turn a young person the wrong way. realize many work with lawyers, managers and adults who think its kind of cute to see a preteen sip a drink or maybe smoke a joint, why is allowed? $$$$$ big money makes the young star lead a faster adult life.
Think about most of the people we know, they become alcoholics/drug addicts, they just aren't a focal point of society.
ohhemmgee..u are soo right... i never thought of it that way but it is soo true.. i thinkits too much pressure they get put under and thats the only wayy they know how to relieve pressure
well becuse they get whatever they want there celebs

um why the F&%K you care

Bye
because they are under the spot light from a young age and its hard enough being a kid without having to go through with the whole world seeing you grow up too...its alot of pressure .
bc they grow out of that "cute" character we knew them as and as a result no one will emply them as actors... sometimes as youngster they get screwed by ppl they though was trustworthy only to have money stolen from me... thats sometimes why
i think its because they become so spoiled, and get stressed out with the constant pains, and they start wanting more money and more and more, then they start hanging with wrong freinds and etc.doesnt happen to them all, but it happens easily
the reached the high point in their life as a child, so a lot of times they feel like they have nothing else left for them, as they usually don't continue to act into adulthood. therefore they turn to ways to try and relieve the fact that they're failures.
Sometimes these children are raised by a nanny or babysitter majority of the time. They don't have their parents to show them the moral steps in life. So they look for that substitute of love to make them feel special. It is hard to turn away from the temptation, especially if the child feels what he/she is looking for.
My brother was a professional athlete. As long as they are "producing results" from Jr. High, High School, College and pro, they can basically do whatever they want and the schools will protect them.

In turn, they develop a false sense of importance and a feeling of being above the law. (child actors fit here perfectly)

Producers, parents of child stars or coaches see the $$$ and let the child do what they want as long as they are raking in the cash.
I am in college studying chemical dependency, (to become a future counselor in this field), I am also a recovered addict and alcoholic myself, and I can tell you this: addiction affects every part of society, from the very rich to the very poor, no one is immune. Most people who become addicts do so because they have been self-medicating, usually unknowingly, for undiagnosed and untreated mental health conditions such as clinical/major depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia. Statistics show that the mental health disorder's symptoms PRECEDE the addiction by about five years.
Former child actors are not immune to these things, any more than the rest of us. This is one situation where money cannot buy you protection. In fact, the pressure of being in the constant spotlight might cause or aggravate the mental conditions that can lead to addiction.
Most teens love to party. Child stars just end up having the money and freedom to do it all the time. They have less consequences than the average teen.Of course partying more often leads to a higher chance your going to get yourself addicted to something.
