Having a debate withclassmate. She says that their is communication with not understanding.?

I disagree with her and say that you have to have an understanding in order to have good communication.Please help me to debate this.

You're both right. The difference is between communication and good communication.

I believe that communication, based on definitions, is basically making contact with someone. --> I can communicate to you through an advertisement for the product "lksjdf", but if you don't know or understand what "lksjdf" is or does, it is hardly any use to you. Or if I use morse code or sign language that you don't know, I'm still communicating with you but you don't understand it.

GOOD communication, however, requires an understanding on the recipients end. You need to know morse code or sign language to understand what I'm trying to tell you. Whether you do or don't, I'm still communicating with you.

i think i get what she means. its like saying

hey you remember last time that guy came up to us?
which guy?
you remember the one who said ima kick your ***

also there is such thing as a comfortable silence, which is where you both enjoy eachothers company but dont really want to talk.all i can offer
