Is it the case that pessimists cope better when bad things do happen, because they were expecting the worse?
Answer:
Yep, if you always expect the worst, you can never be disappointed!!
Sometimes being realistic is confused with being pessimist,I assume you saw it coming and prepared yourself for it the others however were in denial.
But dude never regard yourself as being pessimist otherwise things will slip by you.Good luck on your hunt for a new job.
I don't think that's necessarily true. Sometimes the best reaction to a "bad" thing happening isn't just to accept it, but to step back and see what you can do to make the situation as good as possible. In theory, an optimist would better be able to handle that kind of a response than a pessimist.
Life can be viewed as either your glass is half full or half empty.
The pessimist would say of the glass it was half empty, the optimist would say half full.
In life you plough your own furrow.
If you want to be the pessimist then so be it.
If you want to be the optimist so be it.
It's up to you to decide.
Sorry but actually just being honest.
better to remain nutral, if you think bad stuff will happen then you will be stressed all the time, and if you think nothing bad will happen then when it does it will be a 'shock' and affect you worse.
One time I had to take a really big poopy and I thought I was going to not make it in time to the bathroom and I was walking outside and I couldn't find a bathroom so finally I found a hall mark and I ran in and ran into the bathroom and I found out that it was too late, but I felt kind of happy inside.
I don't know if I'm pessimist but atleast I didn't feel like a loser.
I always expect the worst as I've had some crap thrown at me! If anything good happens it's a bonus :)
