What is life?
Answer:
This is fascinating! I just answered another question remembering a quote from THE FIRST CIRCLE. & now I remember another. "But the meaning of life? We live--that's the meaning. Happiness? When things are going very well, that's happiness, everyone knows that." & I would take a further step & say that we are responsible for our own happiness. To maintain our moral compass. To be, (sincerely), the kind of person we would respect & like. That is the best anyone can do. & if we're truly honest with ourselves, we'll find something I think more valuable than happiness. Harmony.
..Life is being a carbon-based life-form. For humans, life means knowing you're alive and that someday you will die. During the interim, you'll need air, water, food, shelter, security, companionship, and meaningful work so you can pay for all that. AND...you'll want to decide what purpose you'll want your life to have.
My advice is to EXPERIENCE life richly. Relish your every moment because this experience is all you'll ever have of "life" and you don't want to waste it. At the end, that's what you'll be left with...the feeling that you did not waste your life...or that you did.
For vegetation, growth and decline. For sentient beings, including humans, experience, physical and mental ... and for some, growth in both, and for all of us decline eventually.
To love and to be loved .
