Do dreams actually play a role in a person's psyche? How?

Answer:
depending on what you dream about, it can express a lot about what's going on in psyche.

Most dreams express anxieties that your are experiencing consciously, yet the pre-concious wants to further elaborate.
You should read some books or research carl jung, a theorist that placed a lot emphasis on dreams...its really interesting!

Dreams are so amazing!
they let you know what is going on behind the scenes.
I think dreams are a reflection of our mental health and physical health. If you are ill your dreams will usually reflect this. Concentrate on your health first and if you feel up to it: get some therapy also.
dreams are a way of letting the subconcious mind sort through stressors and in 'computer' terms, defragment the day's experiences.
Supposedly, dreams are a manifestation of the subconscious mind (of thoughts in your subconscious.) For instance, you've been feeling horny a lot lately, and then you have a passionate dream about a former lover.
