I don't think this really works. I did this little trick on my mother and my boyfriend. My mom said 'turnip' and my boyfriend said 'early june peas'. strange!
I would have said 'celery'.
However, if it does work on NORMAL people, it is probably just because when asked to name a vegetable, a carrot is the most common answer.

I did that and I think its not carrots but deeper than that. I got a fruit and not a vegetable. But it is the type of fruit that is of interest. An orange!
