How do you cope with a loss?

Today I found out that a lady I grew up with and her husband were murdered by a maniac who days before had murdered another man.They have 5 children and grandchildren.I cannot imagine how they are feeling right now.
This person is still on the loose and the people who live in this very small town and surrounding area,are frantic.He's stolen a car and a truck along with guns and ammunition.
I just can't get this out of my mind.I'm trying to pray but I'm having a hard time even concentrating on that.I know they're in heaven as they were very good living people and admired by everyone.Pillars of their community.
What's bothering me most is the terror they must have felt when this man broke into their home and tied them up.Why would he not just steal their truck and leave them alone? They would do no harm to anyone and their children and grandchildren must be losing their minds over their loss.
What has this world come to? I wish I had some answers.

Answer:
please don't let this make you live in fear. no one can truly answer this but if you just remember the goodness of those you lost was equally as strong as the evil or whatever in their killer(s),then you will eventually put this behind you as a memory and a lesson.
I am so sorry, I don't have the answer but I want to express sympathy. Trust in God that they will capture the murderer as soon as possible. They are in heaven now and safe.
I suggest that you get grief counseling from either a pastor, minister, or qualified counselor.

There are stages people go through when experiencing grief. The first one is shock. Then, I think anger, then sadness, then acceptance. I am not sure if I named all the stages or put them in the right order. Please get counseling from someone else who does.
I am so sorry for your loss.

We come into this world naked;
we get a couple of slaps on the butt;
then, the reality is that we can die at any moment. . .
there are no guarantees of how long anyone will live.
That is how life is set up.

Accepting reality and staying in touch with it is the only way to stay sane.
