How can I get rid of my obsessive compulsive disorder?

My life is revolved around powers of two. It's driving me insane. Tooth brush strokes, pieces of cereal, millilitres of fluid it is becoming ridiculous. I can recognise the powers of two up to 2^256 and and actually became atheist because the number of verses in the bible isn't a power of two. I am going to lose my mind, I need help.

I did not wanted to answer this question - but when i read in detail - i found it similar to the problem I had twice but managed to solve it on my own. Both are illustrated below:

My date of birth is 1st of July so I considered my no as 1 - and became obsessive about it. Then i realized that everything is a factor of one so all numbers must be lucky to me as my no is 1.

This went off cool until someone told me that my number was 8 as it should be a sum of the day, month and year. At first i said ok and then the OCD returned but now in the form of 8. After some time I realized that 4 should be lucky to me as it was a factor of 8 and similarly 2. In your case similarly all even numbers should be lucky as they are a factor of 2 or to put it in other words any number which has a factor of 2 should be good for you. It worked for me and now i have a set of many numbers like 2,4,8,16,17, 20, 22( as 2+2 = 4 and 4 is good), 26 ( 2+6=8). And also the no 1 is good for everyone as it is the base number from which you get all numbers.

So create a few more numbers with 2 and see it will work. All the best.
There are clinics that you can go to where they work with you to get rid of it. I saw a show on MTV about it. Go to a therapist and they can suggest a clinic for you.
Try to break your cycle. I have OCD but it used to be a lot worse. Go out of your way and try to do things in odd numbers, or (this one's a little more tricky) don't count the numbers at all! Your OCD seems REALLY bad, maybe you should talk to a therapist or something like that.

Good Luck.

Hope this works for you.
Yeah you gotta seek professional help on that one. Best of luck to you.
People tend to dismiss this disorder and it really can become debilitating. :( There is hope though. Therapy designed to specifically address these impulses will be beneficial and there are also meds available to assist you with curbing these impulses. Most people suffer from mild cases of this, but yours sounds extreme. I can only suggest that you talk to a therapist and figure out which treatment will best suit you. Hang in there and good luck. =)
