Do people move when thery're dreaming?
Answer:
She's right, in most cases. Normally, when you are in REM sleep, your brain produces chemicals which "turn off" the motor centers of your brain. This is a safety precaution, because you could seriously injure yourself if you actually acted out your dreams. Scientists call this part of REM sleep "REM atonia". Sleepwalking is caused by the brain failing to produce these chemical during REM sleep, and is also known as "REM behavior disorder". This would be the exception to the rule, and the only case I can think of where people would move when they are in the REM state.
Yes, that's true. You go stiff as a board.
Well, not their physical bodies, but their light or energy enteties are moving about in the astral world, since you have a lot of mental content in you. as less you have as less dreams you may have.. To move an actualy body while asleep would require a special kind of traning called "dreaming".
Yes. Some even walk when they are dreaming..i think dream causes them walk when they are sleeping(?)
they feel as if the dream was real.I do it a lot.
I know I have moved will dreaming. I remember waking a few times when I was younger. Asking me what was going and if I was ok. I was hitting the wall with my hand. That is what got her attention. I was dreaming of cat attacking me and being stuck on my hand. I was trying to knock it off by using the wall. I can only speak for me, but I would say to mving while dreaming.
people can definitely move...or talk...if you are having a bad dream you might be tossing and turning...or if you have a good dream, you could be smiling...
it depends what they are dreaming about! if they are kicking somebody or running in their dream, they will be moving!!
Actually, people probably move more when they sleep. Especially during a bad dream.
I have to agree with Kevin. This is what the encyclopedia said:
During REM sleep the body is paralyzed by a mechanism in the brain, because otherwise the movements which occur in the dream would actually cause the body to move. However, it is possible for this mechanism to be triggered before, during, or after normal sleep while the brain awakens. This can lead to a state where a person is lying in his or her bed and he or she feels frozen. Hypnagogic hallucinations may occur in this state, especially auditory ones.
In camp no one would sleep in my tent. I always dreamed about combat and special forces. I guess i kicked some serious b u t t while I was asleep.
I don't think so. I move. I once woke up with a bruise - i think I hit myself during a dream I had.
