How can I sleep when I never feel satisfied with what I have done during the day?
Answer:
Set yourself a goal in the morning. Doesn't have to be something big, maybe clean out a drawer, do a kind deed, donate a couple of bucks to charity.. something you feel is a good thing. Make a list.
Make sure you do your one good thing, achieve your goal. Then when you get into bed you can assure yourself that there is at least one thing you have done well that day. It won't matter if there are other things you failed at, or didn't do as well as you hoped, just make sure of at least one thing. As you go along, make the goals a bit bigger and more challenging, and you will grow with them to the point of being satisfied with who you are and what you do.
But most of all, don't be too hard on yourself. Acknowledge your achievements as much as your failures. Give yourself a pat on the back when you deserve it, don't kick yourself all the time. If you've done something wrong that makes you feel bad, change it the next day.
Good luck!
Make a list of things that you wanted to get done and didn't, and a list of things that you would like to accomplish the next day. Maybe if you get these thoughts out of your head and onto a piece of paper, you will be better able to sleep.
Clear your mind of your negative thoughts and praise yourself for the positive things you did during the day.
EIther you are delusional with your expectations of yourself or you need to smarten up your multi tasking skills, be realistic with what you want to achieve even if your goal is large - and DON'T PROCRASTINATE
If you do the work you need to do, why would you feel this way. Is someone putting you down? If you do your work and nothing and no one else is causing this you may need to do some other things that give you satisfaction. Maybe volunteering at something eg. little league, fire company, animal shelter? If this isn't an answer then maybe you need to talk to your Doctor about possible depression. Or maybe a new job?
You sound like me, lately!
I'd love to know the answer to that - I can't sleep well at all even if I have just the littlest bit of anxiety about something I've done/haven't done.
I agree with the first answerer - make a list of what you need to get done tomorrow, put 'deadlines' for things that have deadlines. Write a list of everything you have started, or accomplished that day. And tell yourself "you did the very best you could today, I'm proud of what you've done, you've accomplished a lot, everything else can wait until tomorrow, you deserve and need a good sleep" - be aware that you seem to have a tendency to put a lot of pressure and high expectations on yourself. Lower the level for 'what you need to do/accomplish daily to feel satisfied and happy with yourself' to something actually achievable!! You can't expect to do more than what is possible. A lot of your accomplishments/activities daily are somewhat out of your control - if they take longer than anticipated, that is not your fault, and that is not your problem. Think encouraging, self-affirming thoughts - give yourself praise when you accomplish a reasonable task during the day, rather than only praising yourself when you accomplish unreasonable expectations.
Write your feelings of inadequacy down on paper or tell someone how you are feeling.
