Does anyone else look stupid because of their anxiety and absent mindedness?

i just cant help it. im inexperienced because i have not gone out a lot, im trying to get over my anxiety. anyway, as a result i do the dumbest things and without realizing, ask the dumbest questions. later i realized how stupid i am. i am absent minded and its horrible. on top of all this i have ocd and so i have all these unreasonable worries. is there anyone out there like me?

Answer:
Yes, I have felt as you have. I was very shy and was made conscious of my absentmindedness by a sibling. She basically called me stupid. I seperated myself from her, and try to keep our relationship at a distance. I surround myself with people I feel comfortable with, and realize it takes a while to get to know people, and they are feeling as awkward as we are. The more you pay attention to it, the more it becomes apparent and the less confidence you feel. You may want to join a group activity such as an art class, or a sports team. It has to be something you enjoy. The more you join, the better you feel. If that doesn't help you may want to talk to a doctor about medication. Remember, everyone has their downfalls, what matters is how we handle it.
no i hav a frend that is anorexic and she is very pritty!
Well, nervousness and thinking your are doing/saying dumb things, but others may not see it as that. OCD can make this worse in people. So what you may think about yourself may not be how others see you.
yes...i can completely relate to what you are saying...having an introverted, anxious, neurotic personality isnt very comfortable...it is a completely vicious cycle of being worried and hating yourself for being worried so much and so on and so forth and all of it creates a kind of gap between thought and feeling...there are a lot of people out there like you and me...the only reason we dont see them so much is because people like us dont often go out into the world... all we can do is take the help that our extroverted society offers to us and try to make the best of it... :)
I am sooooooooo like you when I am on a date then I am just so stupid! I hate it because when you have time to think about it then you realize how stupid you sound.
Advice:
Don't let it bug you. If you THINK you did something wrong then ask your self 'Am I overreacting or just realizing my faults like everyone else has done.
You just described me, wish I could help you. I've always had poor social skills and a very avoidant type personality, so i sometimes behave oddly or stupid in certain situations I've never experienced before. I have a tendency to get caught up in details and try to do everything perfectly, I miss the big picture. I'm so worried about doing the right and perfect thing, I can't function when plans change or I have to deal with a new situation. I'm sure no one is as critical of us as we are, and it's not as noticable as you think. Wish I could offer you more advice, but you really described me pretty well.
I know I do, and after 50 years, realized that it is easier to laugh and have fun with it. I had to REALLY stop worrying about what others thought of me. Now I am free to be whomever I am.
