Why does questioning God, or the Holocaust cause an automatic cessation of critical thinking?
Why are there questions that so called intelligent people refuse to consider?
What are other examples of this process?
Does it have a technical name?
Answer:
To be critical you must separate yourself from emotional connection to truely be impartial. All of the issues you mention are very difficult to separate oneself from emotionally.
In the theatre of conversation topics there are two catagorys you should always avoid..religion and politics. In the case of God most people have alot of beliefs and having those beliefs questioned solicits a emotional responce. ( ever tell a kid santa isn't real?) As for the Holocaust the evidence is so overwhelming as to its horrific reality that even questioning some of the finer points of it can solicit the same reaction.
apple pie? interesting... i don't know
technical name maybe denial?
Questioning whether or not the Holocaust happened is just stupid, read a HISTORY BOOK!

You are a blessed persons. Such
things rarely occur to others. The
Hindu Upanishads say that persons
with such experiences will have a
philosophical bent of mind in later
years of life.
It is also possible that you may see
some spiritual visions.
