The Chinese had very painful tortures, including putting a person's head in a cage of hungry rats. The rats would eat their way out of the cage.. slowly.
burning to death with full awareness of what is happening. I mean, could you imagine?? I think i'd have a stroke and die of that before the flames got me
in my opinion it would be suffocation, drowning, things like that. because you're longing for something the whole time and you dont have that "my whole life flashed before my eyes!" type of thing because all you can think of is: i wanna breaaatthheeee!! not to mention, have you ever ytried holding your breath? painful!
Personally I would have to say drowning, or any other kind of suffocation. Anything that makes you suffer. Like when you are under water with no way out, you know you are going to die and there is nothing you can do about it. You feel yourself get sleepy, stop fighting, quit breathing, your organs shutting down. It's terrible, not a death I would wish on anyone.

To express which way is the worst has no impact because when it is over it is over.It is just an oppinion because no one can tell afterwards to anybody "My death was the worst"
I would think burning would be the worst way to go
your loved ones leaving you on the road getting your arms and legs cut of by a semi truck puking twelve times rolling into the ditch cold lonely and frightened roll into fire and get your head chopped off and your body chopped in half.
I think drowning, fire, or in an airplane, but when you start to think about it all kinds of scary things come to my head, I dont like to think about death, no matter what we dont like its going to happen to each of us and we will never know when or how, freaky!!
Without getting creative with torture I always thought burning alive would be the worst, followed by drowning at least, in terms of physical pain before death.
However I would probably rather burn to death than die painlessly in an embarrassing way, i.e. having a heart attack with a prostitute or something else you would see in a movie.*** An intact reputation post mortem is probably more important to me than avoiding severe physical pain the last few minutes I live.
As for torture, Bret Easton Ellis pretty much defined the worst ways to die in American Psycho.
***Note - I don't ever intend to hook up with a prostitute, just wanted to give an example of an embarrassing way to die
