Should people have to take an IQ test to have children?

I don;t think it is a matter of intelligence but rather a matter of parental competence. I'm sure some of the smartest people in the world have made some of the worst parents. It doesn't matter how much money you have, how much intelligence you have, how much time you have, good and bad parents come in all shapes and colors. So no, people should not be forced to take an IQ test before having children.
well just cuz their stupid doesnt mean they cant have the joy of being mothers and fathers... but they should have help with the kids... alot of it
I think so. I also think they should have to foster a child for a period of time to understand exactly what they are getting into.
I hate to laugh at your question, but I only do as I feel many people should have to be. However, it will never happen.
For it to happen, you would have to test everyone before they had sex, then disallow them to EVER have sex, if they failed the test. That part would be OK, except how would you ever enforce their ban on sex?
Sadly, it's a violation of civil liberties and infringes upon individual freedom and reproductive rights. And what's more, IQ really means nothing in today's society. Some people are brilliant but you'd never know by the crappy choices they've made in life.
It's better to educate than to force people to do something just because we as a society think some are too stupid to breed. Indeed many are but who are we to tell them what they and can't do? Well, besides deny them welfare that is. The more they suck welfare the more pissed I get. But, it's life. Worry about yourself and screw all the rest.

I would have to say 'no', an I.Q. test should not be mandatory for child bearing.

IQ test is not an exact method to calcul knowledge or intelligence.

Well, if you can somehow set a lower limit on IQ to birth children, then you should also have a limit on sexual deviants adopting kids. (same sex parents)
I think it should be more of an EQ test since IQ is not very important in rearing a child. Its the person's emotional stability that matters.

Let me tell you Raven R, I work in Women's Health (OB/GYN) and deal with pregnant morons and their equally moronic spawn and have thought the same as you. Sadly, they seem to be disproportionately populating the country since so many others have chosen to remain childless. However, I cannot condone a "test" or "license" prerequisite to have children. That's just too much government in our lives. I think society just needs to do more to make sure their offspring can be self sufficient citizens who contribute to society.
