Does anyone else have this problem with multiple hobbies?
I consider my personality kind of in the category of
"jack of all trades master of none". I have recently taken up different hobbies, such as playing the guitar, sports, boating, martial arts, etc. I find myself bored soon afterwards and can never commit to doing any of these hobbies for a long period of time. I can't tell if it's not challenging to me anymore or I just don't have my priorites lined up correctly. Does anyone else have this problem?
Answer:
I do the same thing. It just takes dedication. A financial commitment helps. I now prepay for all my classes so that if I don't go, I just waste my money.
I have the opposite problem. I can't find a hobby.
Yes, I experience the same sort of thing, although none of my hobbies cost me any money at this time. Let me know if you get a really useful answer to this question, i.e., one that works for you over the long haul. I'm not going anywhere.
I find that if I get a 'mental' understanding of a hobby I no longer need to got through the physical aspects.
e.g. If I play cards well enough to win at them, I no longer have the urge to play cards... the challenge has gone!
But I seem to have lots of inhibitions. I think most sports are damaging to the body and should be avoided, particularly high impact and adrenaline producing activities.
Reading is one of my re-occurring hobbies, as is gardening and house improvement..but in little spells and subject to periods of neglect.
I hate communal hobbies and pastimes as this commits me to responsibilities, and I like to be as free as possible.
There has to be a useful purpose to my activities otherwise I soon lose interest.
