What can I do to be a more positive person? I wanna apply whats been told in the book the Secret, but.?
..I am a negative thinking person. I find it very hard to change and apply the things written in the Secret. PLEASE HELP!
Answer:
You need to break the habit of negative thinking...it is a learned process and you were not born with it. The more positive you use, the less negative you will have. When you find youself in a negative space, stop yourself and turn it into positive! It is easy once you get the hang of it...and use daily affirmations! (ie: I am a loving, positive person and I shed my light on all I encounter). Get rid of negative words such as: no, not, can't, won't, don't, etc. and change them into a positive connotation. Instead of saying "I don't want do lose my job" you would say "I have a strong, solid working environment that provides ample pay to suit my lifestyle". See, it's not what you say, it's how you say it. I learned "The Secret" 24 years ago (it wasn't called The Secret then) and it DOES work!!
I felt very empowered and positive after I read that book too, but also find it hard to apply to my life. The thing I do to keep myself positive everyday is to constantly tell myslef throughout the day that life is good and try very hard to keep a smile on my face. Good Luck!
have time with friends who is very positive in all aspects and read inspirational articles.
The only way I know to be more positive is just DO IT!
It will be hard at first, but you WILL start seeing results...post a note on the bathroom mirror reminding your self that you are worth it, let your last thoughts at night be of the GOOD things that happened during the day..take time to appreciate the little things, even like the mailman brought no bills!!
There was a nice breeze in the air, your hair looked good today, you get the drift. All the small good things add up quickly, but we tend to not think about them, so easy to take the small stuff for-granted.
I can find something positive in anything, and so can you, just do it! You may be depressed but I would not advise anti-depressants, they do more harm than good, plus they make you ill if you stop taking them, they can even cause death if you run out and can't get more, not to mention all the other side effects, like sexual dysfunction! Find more things that give you pleasure and the negativity will subside.
I have not read the secret, but I can tell you that practice is at the heart of positive thinking - likewise for negative thinking.
Negative thinking is simply a habit, which is in itself a routine or set of routines that have been practiced so much you've become an expert at performing them, so much so that you no longer think about it.
Positive thinking is exactly the same. Having discovered a new set of positive routines, you now need to practice them repeatedly until you perform them automatically - once you're there, the transformation will take place without you knowing it.
In the meantime, one good tip is to hang out with positive thinking people, and pick each other up whenever you're negative. The brain learns very quickly from observation and listening, so if you can get a positive gang together and bounce off each other, it'll make the learning that much more fun and that much quicker.
Please be careful to stay away from crock-psychology that tells you of your inadequacies and offers unrealistic advice for how to change your life (for a small fee, of course). There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a negative person. That is your personality and your nature, and unless it hinders your daily interactions, there is no need to change it. A society where everyone is perpetually happy is both unrealistic and unhealthy. Scepticism, negativity, and even self-doubt are important developmental characteristics that indicate that you are a thoughtful, well-balanced person.
Take the book chapter by chapter- day by day. It is a process not a bottle of cheap wine to be consumed quickly and passed.
