Why people are so meen n rude these days?

i think they are just worng for being meen

Answer:
I agree with most of the other answers but must add something. We now live in an age where more and more people think guns are evil. Back in the day everyone had them if if you were an a**hole to the wrong person then you might get popped. People don't have to worry about consequences anymore so they don't care.
-Traffic Jam
-Work
-Hungry
-Not having enough rest/sleep
-Busy
An unfortunate result of living in a narcissistic culture with a decreasing sense of community.

Heh: Here I am sitting at the computer, communicating with a total stranger. what's to prevent me from being unkind? And then taking this attitude of entitlement (I deserve better than anyone else) out into the world and dealing with my "lessers" (i.e. waitresses, bank tellers, fellow drivers, etc.) the same way?

The isolation we feel can make us pretty sad and pathetic people, eh? And the only antidote is connection -- working on it, being willing to connect, being [gack!] *vulnerable* enough to drop the need to be *right*. It's all too easy these days to wall off from others, and being mean is the best way to be alone.

So sad. and you see that (since you're asking about it), so don't do it yourself! If the meanness gets to you, find the people who *aren't* doing that, and get closer to them.

Don't cast your pearls before swine, even if they *are* disconnected pitiable swine -- they'll still trample your goodness underfoot. Cultivate your own kindness, put it out there, and look for it in others.

It's like this: When you're skiing down a hill and you want to miss the trees, DON'T LOOK AT THE TREES. Look at where you want to go. Look for the kindness, m'dear!
this is mostly a manner of upbrining i am not saying it is all the parents fault what i am saying is a child learns from what they see around them and it is a very complicated enviorment. They learn from there parents mostly when there really young. when they reach school age there is much more imput from school and peers. Don't forget tv, computers, internets, organizations, books, magizines, newspapers, video games, clubs and sports also have a play depending on how involved and how important they are to the child. If the child sees constantly from others they are around do be rude and mean then they will learn unless redirected and reinforced not to. If however someone shows them not to act them that way and reinforces it with some kind of positive feedback then they will learn respect and to be nice.

reasons are

parents don't teach there children to be nice or to respect others

schools don't see it as there job to teach these things they use to-my report card in grade school actually had a manners section believe it or not and i only graduated high school in 1992

peer groups have children who don't respect others and are mean they learn it from various sorces

tv and movies teach children it is cool and to fit in you have to be rude and mean

there is not enough involvement in organizaions, church groups etc by children who teach polietness etc

magazines, newspapers, and other media besides tv also glamorize being bad idea

video games show violance, lots of bad language etc and rudeness as being cool

music lyrics and popular icons in society what children see at least as icons and heros act that way and sing about such meaness as being ok and cool

sports teams, sports stars no longer talk about sportmanship but winnings and children sports org. have parents who beat each other up if there children don't win what do you think the children are learning there.

as you can see there learning it all over and children are like sponges learn through example, they see, they mimic, and children become adults some day.
It depends what you mean by mean and rude. I've found a lot of people on here think you're mean if you give an opinion they don't like. That's not mean. As far as those who insult other people - I think it's just easy to get that out on here - to vent - since we are all anonymous.
Look no further than three straight generations of lazy indulgent worthless parenting Misty.Back in the 70's when i was a little kid my Dad kept saying how the 1960's Me Me-Do Your Own Thing generation was going to ruin the world.I told him he was crazy now in 2007 I can see he was absolutely right.People are too busy worrying about other things such as how they can get their hands on every dollar in the world, how many pain pills they can snort up their nose, how many Justin Timberlake ringtones they can get for their cellphone etc to give a good goddamn about how they raise their kids...no wonder no one has any morals and are all just out for #1.anyway I agree with you about the state of manners in the world today.
