Did hamlet have an edopus complex for his mother?

Lefty asked this. I'm not that clever.

Answer:
It was Claudius who killed the King and married the Queen. At one point it seems Hamlet may have a thing for his mother but he was only going to kill Claudius because his father told him to take revenge for his murder. Oedipus was fated to kill his father and marry his mother. An Oedipus complex is when someone has feelings of lust for their mother and desire to kill their father. Hamlet didn't have that but Claudius killed Hamlets father and married Hamlet's mother.
Hamlet's depression was his problem, he just used every reason in his book to milk it. His impotence was his downfall. As for his mother - well, all guys have soft spots for their mothers. I myself am not allowed to ever say a bad word about my husband's mother - ever.
Hamlet was just a guy who wasn't allowed to stand up and be a man. That was his real problem.
