Does counting sheep work?

I've noticed that when i count sheep it keeps me awake, because I am focusing on something and not relaxing. I was wondering if it works for you guys.

Counting sheep has never worked for me. But here's what HAS worked. Find your most comfortable position in bed... close your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply. Relax your body with each exhale starting with your toes and feet. Work your way up to your ankles, calves, knees, thighs, etc. until you reach your head. I'm usually asleep before I get to my lower back.

No it doesn't...it keeps me awake...i keep forgetting where i stopped at and had to start all over again...
It doesn't work for me; I just get distracted by the imaginary sheep. Sometimes I can fall asleep by imagining strange things and trying to make them lead into a dream.
absolutely NOT!! its horrible! almost as horrible as 99 bottles of beer on the wall! i forget what number im on when it comes to sheep and when im singing the bottles song i try to make it to no bottles of beer when i shoudl be going to sleep!! ugh!!
Rather than paying too much attention to the exact count, just kind of count them as they meander over a lush green hill in New Zealand countryside.
It works only if it distracts you from the thought of trying to go to sleep. It's just a method of helping you relax your body, close your eyes, and sort of medatating. Eventually you will just fall asleep.
times tables. that or go to sleep listening to a compilation of paris hilton interviews. then you gotta get therapy for the nightmares it will give you.
It gave me a splitting headache when I tried it once. Never again! It only works for Ernie and Bert in Sesame Street.
it only works for Mr. Bean. i tried it once and i was already on my 200th sheep and i'm still awake.
