I'd definitely want someone of the opposite gender. If that person was really good looking, we could start a relationship; and if he were butt ugly, then we'd just be good friends. Either way, it would still be more interesting than having a same gender companion. :-)
I would prefer the opposite gender... unless... that person was extremely unattractive... in that case I might take the companionship of somebody of the same gender. But my preference would be to spend many days on that island with a beautiful person of the opposite gender.
