Is motivation essential?

Many people say that they cannot do this and that because they don't have the motivation. But is motivation really necessary to accomplish a task?

Answer:
Motivation is not essential to accomplish a task. Each day people perform tasks by rote or because it is expected of them.

Motivation is required to set a goal and do the tasks, hard or otherwise, needed to reach the goal.
No motivation, no success.
I just can't be bothered to answer that.
Yes, if we don't have the motivation to do something, we are simply not going to use the energy to do it. Sometimes that motivation is simply a sense of duty or responsibility or even fear of punishment or censorship if we do not do it, either way it is still motivation. Motivation does not have to be the desire to do something.
Anything must seem worthwhile, or who would take the trouble to do it?
