Does ativan work for fear of planes?
Answer:
Did the Ativan make you feel sleepy? If not, go back to the Dr. and ask him/her to prescribe something that can conk you out for the duration of the flight. I, too, am horribly afraid of flying and have only done it once, and I took Xanax which made me sleep through the flight (it was about 4 hours). There's also Dramamine, which is anti-motion sickness AND makes you sleepy, and that's over the counter. (Side note: make sure you bring enough for the flight back, as I only brought a single pill w/ me and was a mess on the way home, lol).
Aside from whatever pill you end up taking, listen to music, bring a book to read, notebook to write in, concentrate on the FANTASTIC honeymoon you'll have, etc.anything that can help you relax and get through the flight (if you don't sleep) comfortably. Good luck, you'll be fine!
Try a mixed drink
Ativan as you know is an anti-anxiety, whether it will be enough to mitigate your fear of flying I don't think anyone can answer, it will depend on how deep seated your fear is. You should speak to the Dr. that prescribed it and see how much is safe to take.
There are courses out there for people that are afraid of flying and you could undergo hypnosis which helps in some cases, problem is you only have three weeks, so your time is a bit limited.
