How important is it for you to feel 'supported' in the causes you believe in?
do you do your best volunteering, educating, and practicing what you preach alone or with other people?
why or why not is it important for you to feel you're not alone in spreading the word?
Answer:
It's important for me to feel supported by people whose opinions I value. If say, my husband thought my causes were frivolous and stupid, I'd be hurt, and my balloon would be burst. I still do my best when *I* know what I'm doing is right, but it could be disheartening if you felt you were alone in your cause. I remember the first time I'd ever heard of the atrocities going on in Sudan- I think it was about 7 or 8 years ago. I felt so completely helpless to do anything because it wasn't an issue that was important to the media or to the government. I learned about it through Samaritan's Purse, who were there IN Sudan helping people. I donated money to the cause, but I still felt like that was just a wasted small drop in an increasingly large bucket. Now that people are more aware of what's going on (through Darfur), I feel better able to spread the word because people will be more apt to listen. Anyway, long rant short, it certainly HELPS to know others support you because it means you're not alone in what you're thinking, but if it's an important enough cause, you'll fight for it regardless.
Well say for example if I am being wronged at the work place I would hope my boss who I work hard for will support me if I had an issue with management. Its important to be supported by my friends and family when I have been hurt or I will not tolerate any injustice done to me...In the end you really have to be ok with yourself to state your cause but its nice when you have people to back you up as well :)) I am never alone in spreading my thoughts to other for something that I believe in always :)))
I think it depends on what your goal is. For example, to enlighten & inform people, & to find solutions to global warming, we all need each other's support. The "behind closed doors" decisions by the administration with oil industries & major polluters (great donaters of $$!) & subsequent denials to the public that it exists at all is difficult enough to combat, so--the more support the better. In social matters where reinforcement is needed to obtain justice, strong advocates can be very effective. In very personal matters, such as my beliefs & moral concepts, I don't need someone to "have [my] back."
It is extremely important.
Some time ago i shared with my 360 friends my involvement in an npo/ngo here in Mauritius.
I was very pleased and touched that a 360 friend ,his name is Panda , place our website in one of his blogs.
I greatly appreciate him for that.
Our association needs not only fundings but moral support and he gave it to us.
While its nice to be supported in any position, I do not find it necessary. If I believe an issue then to me that is all I need. My principles dictate most of my views. These are not negotiable. If asked my opinion or if trying to prove a point I will logically and sometimes quite passionatly speak my peace . If those around me do not agree thats fine I explain my position I do not need others to validate my beliefs nor take any cause that is mine. I believe we all walk alone we just meet others along the way. I think that most people who are afraid to stand alone do not have the resolve in their beliefs or the fortitude in their person to lead so they tend to stay with the crowd.
It's important, but if it's something I truly believe in, and I get no support, I'll just do it on my own!
It's extremely important, but I'm very used to not having much, if any, interest, support, sympathy and understanding, so I had to learn to provide what I need for myself, emotionally and spiritually.
I hope you know you have my support, Patz, to you, personally, and to the causes you embrace. :)
If I believe in something very strongly, I don't really care what anyone else thinks of it. I think that happens to you with age.
