What does 22:22 mean?

Whenever I look at a digital clock at night, many times it seems to read 22:22 - more than a random selection would have produced. Is this my brain playing a trick on me and if so how? It seems a bit weird that 22:22 would pop up more than other possibilities.

Answer:
I get it with 1.11, just seems to catch my eye, also get it with 13.11 if set to 24 hr. (think i caught it from playing cricket, 111, Nelson is an unlucky number for a batsman)

You have become sensitised to recognising 22.22 and probably are subconciously vigilant for it. Amazing how perceptive human vision and mental processes can be once programmed.

Means nothing mate just your brain on auto pilot , forget it. Its a usefull process as well ,same way as we get used to registering traffic lights and such without really having to look for them
10:22 Pm.
twenty two minutes past 10 in the evening
it mean u have a haunted clock and its trying to get you. RRRUUUUNNNNN!!
22:00 is 10pm in military time. So it's 22 minutes after 10pm
have u reached 22 years of age yet? maybe somethings gonna happen? maybe u need to turn off ur alarm thats set for 22:22!!
Brain playing tricks, you want it to be 22/22..22my lucky number...Adds a bit of spice and mystery to your life,EH
It means you're gonna die some day.
its your peripheral view mate, and 22.22 being more pleasing on the eye than say 16.27 ,i have the same problem with 7.47 always gets me ,but that's just plane nonsense ain;t it!
Your clock is set to military time. Read the manuel, and set it to read normally. Military time is on a 24-hour clock rather than a 12-hour clock. You don't have 8 in the morning and 8 in the evening on a 24-hour clock, instead, you have 8 in the morning and 12(noon)+8(hours), which is 20:00. The minutes work the same as normal.

If it's on a stereo, it could mean "demo" is on, and you have to press the button marked "demo" (this is perpetual on my stereo).

It could just be that your clock is haunted by a soldier. Either learn to coexist with the spirit, or burn lots of sage and call the guys from "Ghost Hunters."
88:88

maybe - you are just looking for the number? the digital clock face allows such things to happen

88 minutes to go :-)
Your brain is fantastic at keeping time and for some reason your brain has become programmed to the time 10:22pm. If you want to you can re-programme it. Just tell it.
Maybe some of your LEDs are burned out and some of the numbers only show up as 2?!

I have that problem on my Microwave - never sure if I have set it for 1 minute, 9 minutes, or what!
I DON'T BELIEVE THIS!! My other half has the EXACT SAME THING! He is paranoid about 22:22!

My explanation is that we all tend to wake up just before our alarm clock goes off in the morning, get hungry around "lunch time" and "dinner time" and then get sleepy at "bed time". We are creatures of habit us humans, so I think it has become routine for your brain to alert itself at 22:22 and now you are aware of it, your brain makes you look at the clock at around the same time night after night. It is still pretty freaky though!

What you should check is the next time you are on holiday and in a different time zone - does it still happen? Eg if you go somewhere that is 2 hours behind of your home time, do you look at the clock at 20:22??

Scary though... Maybe it is lucky!
You probably do look at the clock when it says other more random times such as 19:15, but you only remember the occasions when it says 22:22 because it is so unusual and therefore sticks in your memory.
you need to get a new battery for your clock
it's a universal reference footnote. Maybe you have paranormal abilities
22 minutes past 10 in the evening !
Body clock.
What time of day were you born?

I wouldn't be surprised if you told me 22 minutes past 10...
its how much time u have left to live
