Question about being sad and how to avoid it (lol)?

for the past few years, ive been happy and sad, on and off. every few months ill be happy for a few months, and sad for a few more... usually the sad periods last about twice as long as the happy periods. normally they center around girls , so ive attributed it primarily to bad luck, but now im starting to wonder...any suggestions of what this might be or how to avoid it? (incidentily im fifteen and have felt this with increasing severity for about 3 years)

Answer:
I am kind of going through the same thing. I'm a fifteen year old girl though. This fall when i started high school i became depresed adn was on medication. I think the cause washormonal, i didn't get ssad about guys or anything, i was just sad. It happened again about amonth ago and now im just confused about where and who i want to be. I find that trying to seperate myself from my situationa nd say that it is in teh past sometimes helps. A therapist isn't a bad idea either. Three years is too long for this to happen. Good Luck with everything.
Your at the age when your horomones are surging and there is a lot of inbalance. That is why sometimes you feel sad and sometimes happy. There is a lot of stress and emotional tension at 15, especially involving girls. Its not fun, but its normal. However, if you feel increasingly sad, and think you may be depressed its a good idea to talk to a docter or therapist. They can help you balance your mood swings. Best of luck!
A bit of advice- do not let your emotions consume you. I was very very compassionate and empathetic when I was your age and it literally put the weight of the world on my shoulders. Just remember, you are in a transitory state and THIS TOO SHALL PASS.
There is a condition called bipolar disorder that occurs in different degrees of severity. It can manifest as early as your age, so, I recommend that you speak with a counselor or your physician about this. You are perceptive and quite self-aware to have identified these behaviors in yourself. Continue that intelligent approach to your health by following through now with professional assessment and treatment. There are very effective therapies. Don't sweep this under the rug. Treat it sort of like you would an infection. Take care of the problem properly.
hey dont despair this is the beginning --i broke off from my girl at your age for tearing my enid blyton book
make new girlfriends every day revel in the aches and pains write heart rending eulogies on it and say it out aloud tear it and make another girlfriend
but be sincere with each one as you progress
do not talk about anyone of them to anyone
be courteous even after a break

have fun all the best
Okay so we are around the same age. Im seventeen but im a girl. Now here’s the thing… I believe that it does have something to do with a hormonal change. Technically guys don’t finish with these changes until the ages between eighteen and maybe around 21,22. Don’t trip about these feelings. Of course, at our age we our surrounded by the pressures to live up to certain things, especially as far as the opposite sex. Don’t fall victim to those pressures… I call them stupidity. I am a very rational person. Don’t let a female ruin your life. I’m not only telling you this… I had to tell this guy who started to cut himself when he found out that I wasn’t as interested in him as he thought I was. To me it seems like EVERYONE has a boyfriend or girlfriend… I don’t want to be like everyone else and I love being me… FIRST OF ALL. I have many guy friends that I am close with and I have a crush on one right now… but I wont let him occupy my life and I refuse to get sad over him if things don’t work out the way I hope they could. Just be you first. Then when you know what and who you really want that girl will never make you feel sad again… no matter what happens. We do get sad and feel down on ourselves… but don’t let that occupy your entire being… with me I write things down… in a poem short story, whatever and then if I don’t wanna read it ever again I just ball it up or even tear it up and through it away. Get your mind off of things. And always SMILE! Things are a million times better when you just SMILE and LAUGH! And believe me… girls do love it when guys are just being themselves… being fun… when the right girl see that she e attracted to you… you wont have those months of sadness again. I hope ive been of some help to you. Feel free to email me at any time. Im always here to fellow a fellow teen! Good luck!
The nonpermanent appearance of happiness and distress, and their disappearance in due course, are like the appearance and disappearance of winter and summer seasons. They arise from sense perception, and one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed. All the distresses brought about by the body come and go. One has to learn how to tolerate them. Material existence is the cause of all our sufferings, for we do not suffer once we are out of the material condition. The Vedas therefore enjoin that one should factually understand that he is not material but is actually Spiritual.
In the material world, in any form of life, there is some so-called happiness and so-called distress. No one invites distress in order to suffer, but still it comes. Similarly, even if we do not endeavor to obtain the advantages of material happiness, we shall obtain them automatically. This happiness and distress are obtainable in any form of life, without endeavor. Thus there is no need to waste time and energy fighting against distress or working very hard for happiness. Our only business in the human form of life should be to revive our relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead and thus become qualified to return home, back to Godhead. Material happiness and distress come as soon as we accept a material body, regardless of what form. We cannot avoid such happiness and distress under any circumstances. The best use of human life, therefore, lies in reviving our relationship with the Supreme Lord.
