Everyone wonders this at some point I think. In my opinion the purpose of life is to serve God. He has you here for a reason, even though we may not know what it is.
If you browse FunQA.com for a while you'll see this is a very common feeling in young people. Its perfectly natural, it doesn't mean you're crazy or anything. At your point in life it's easy to wonder just what is the purpose or meaning of life.
I want to say that the purpose of your life is up to you, that you have the prerogative to make your life mean whatever you want. But that doesn't really help, does it? 8^)
So all I can say is that for now you just have to be patient (and brave) and things will become clearer down the road. College will be a real growth experience for you. When you get out of college you'll be a different person altogether. You will see things differently and have more interest in the future.

Please don't hate me, but I already typed this out, so I copied it to here:
I have a *possible* suggestion; When your brain goes on auto-pilot, which happens the most often when you're doing a task that doesn't require a lot of thought, this gives your mind time to sort out the unconscious problems it's been working on. Because the rational part of your brain is asleep at the wheel because it doesn't need to think as you do something you've done a million times before (laundry, watching TV, listening to the same song on repeat), the rest of your mind, the part that thinks about things all the time, including when you sleep, starts trying to sort out problems for you. When your rational brain is engaged, it's more likely your unconsious thought will come up and you'll react to them.
Because your mind may have been thinking about something you've buried, like an old worry, a secret fear, etc, it might have started trying to sort it out while the front part of your brain was busy listening to Beyonce for the fiftieth time. Then you reacted to the worry being sorted out.
Really, try and meditate a bit. Quiet your mind and really open yourself to what might be lurking in your subconscious. It may be (MAY be) there's a problem or a worry or a fear in there you need to address. Once you've identified it, you can work on solving it.
Also, changing your life like going to college can be *very* frustrating. You only know about half of what's expected of you, and new unknowns will rise up and make you wonder if you really know what the hell you're doing at all. Don't worry, just stop and give yourself time to think. College is the first really really new thing you've ever done, something that changes a bunch of major things in your life. It's fun, exciting and can be confusing too. Just give yourself time, write down the things that bother you, adn go looking or asking for advice.
It's actually very healthy to feel that way because you need to ask questions to become the person you want to be, and not just what you think other people expect. Don't worry if it takes time to all come together. Starting college is a time in life when we go through so many changes in how we see ourselves and the world.
