Do nightmares signify any underlying issues/problems?

I've been having nightmares off and on for quite some time now. Seems every week I get a day or two where I just have bad dreams all night long, doesn't even matter if I wake up from one, I just fall asleep into yet another one.

It seems to be the norm now for me to have nightmares.

Also when I'm awake, I generally have developed a very paranoid/scared state. I fear things, I fear the dark, I"m always scared that someone will break in, what if this, what if that. I basically worry alot.

And I realized that this is all relatively new, since in the past I never had nightmares and I never worried.

So, this concerns me, as maybe my strange paranoid/fearful waking state, and the nightmares during sleep might be pointing out to some possible unresolved issues?

I need some advice.

Or maybe it's just nothing.

You have alot of serious probs. going on in your life. I had one while preg. that I saw a ceiling fan coming down on me. Woke up before it cut me into. Turned out my BP was up. Hope you have been checked out health wise by you dock. I really dont know what to say to you nothing really,,, its all within yourself to find the answer. Its like an itch... its itching but NO ONE knows where to scratch. Find that itch(nightmare) and let someone help you scratch.
the body does tend to play tricks on you sometimes. at least when that's happening, one has a clue where that something is wrong. but, even then the nervous system can be tricky.
i had an ulcer for years that caused me to have muscle spasms. the thing was that nobody found the ulcer until i was able to have a moving ex-ray.
what i'm driving at is that your problem and dreams may be so complicated as you think or they may be as simple as something you shouldn't be eating. if you have added something to your diet recently and the dreams are a result, then you'd best know not to eat it...huh?
i'd say that if it was more complicated than that, you need to consult some one professional.

happy landings.i wish you well.
what exactly you need to do is see a psychologist please do it
you really need help ,all though i am not a psychologist but i can tell you that dreams are nothing but what we want or think and may be it sounds weird but i have got some intutive thing or i call it great observing power and as i went through your problem of nightmere than i geuss you are used to it now and it doesnt mater anymore except sometimes
but please see a psychologist just to confirm that nothing is wrong any ways do you belive in supernatural...???
I think that maybe you have done something that is wearing on your conscious. Maybe lied about something or done something major that may have ended up hurting someone... Try getting into your inner feelings to get to the root of the problem. Only identifying the problem will help you solve it.
Are you eating very high in sugar items before bed? Iv'e heard that that can lead to lucid high drama dreaming. Add that to something you have felt, done, said or thought that is making you fell guilty and now you have nightmares only Freddy Krueger can relate to. Be open and honest about yourself and how you feel, and cut back on eating 3 hous before bed. Have a nice bath, and relax with something you enjoy before bed. I personally like to watch t.v. Sip on chammomile tea while doing it and maybe this will do the trick.
Best of luck, beeb
