This might be an insanely dumb question, but what's a "Proven track record"?
Answer:
It's the researchable record that someone has succeeded at something.
John Grisham has a proven track record of producing popular law-related novels. Sue has a proven track record of getting straight A's in AP classes.
What doesn't count as a proven track record is something where the results are not quantifiable, measurable in some way (often money, but not necessarily).
Examples in which the phrase is wrong:
Steve Buscemi has a proven track record of picking the quirkiest roles available. Hannah has a proven track record of being the most fashionable girl at school.
proven track record really is something said in reference to race horses. the words simply mean the horse has run in a number of races and done well .
It is a clique! Used as an endorsement in many different venues. A certain group is wanting to support a politician, so to their members they might say. Senator (whoever), has a proven track record, he has consistanly voted for our (whatever)
