Nature or Nurture?

& why?

Answer:
Both. You can't escape either one. By nature we are born and either die or thrive, depending on how we are nurtured, don't you think? The human might be considered one of the highest forms of natural life, but our dependence on the nurturing community of others like us for success makes the argument that both are important for me.

Personally I welcome both; it's the overcrowding thing that is bothering me. Too many kids going without any moral guidance, too. I'm not a member of the 700 club or such, but disrespect leads to chaos, and our jails are already packed full of people who have lost it all, just fighting to stay alive. And I'm just talking about the USA. What's our world going to be like in 2099?
For me its nature. I was always very sweet and loving toward everyone even though i grew up in a totally effed up family with alcoholism, violence even sexual abuse and although sometimes I fly off the handle and get crazy I am still that sweet caring person 99% of the time.
what is the question exactly?
i am a nurturer, and also a nature gal, so what is the question?
nurture of course... as a woman that is what I do best.
Both...in a study of twins who were separated at birth, both twins had a high risk of schizophrenia because of genetics. The study was to find whether or not both twins would develop schizophrenia if nurtured a certain way. Nearly every single time, the BOTH had schizophrenia regardless of upbringing.

Now, I was raised in an abusive home when I was a child, but I do not abuse my children...

I would have to say that BOTH Nature and Nurture play a part in how people turn out.
I really don't know what your question is about. But I'll try something. The higher forms of life need to have their parents teach them survival skills. It's instinctive. The nurture part comes in when the parents do things for their off springs that does not involve instinct. Scientists have tried for years to determine which is the stronger and most important part of the raising of offspring. They know it's a combination of the two, but they haven't been able to determine which is the strongest.
It depends on what you are talking about, I lean toward nurture on most things, but many others are clearly biologically based issues.
that's a false dichotomy (as most turn out to be) there is overwhelming evidence that biology predisposes us to specific behavior patterns that can be and often are moderated by our environment
