What is moral flexibility? and do you defend the notion of moral flexibility?
Answer:
I take it to mean that one must apply morality within a context.
We shouldn't fall into the trap of applying a general rule to a specific conundrum.
We must be aware of the context before we pass any moral judgments.
Be flexible in style and inflexible in morals. Styles change from day to day, but morals never change.
Isn't moral flexibility the ability to accept all morals for what they are & being able to change your morals with evolving ideas when you view them as correct? I'm not sure though, but I do defend it because as I look into others morals & other relgious moralities, I begin to see that maybe they have a point behind what they believe.
To have morals means to never intentionally inflict pain.
Never implies inflexibility.
Flexible morals wouldn't be moral at all.
So, no. I don't defend such thought or practice.
