Is it possible?
Does any one know of the experiment with pavlov and conditioning the dogs to produce saliva when the bell rang for food? If so, I was wondering do u think the same could happen with humans?
Just say for example I wanted stop eating something really nice like, um, chocolate (I don't but anyway), and I mixed it with something I don't like to eat, for instance corn. If I ate them together, would I eventually learn to dislike the smell and taste of chocolate?
Answer:
People have tried something like this with cigarettes when trying to quit with mixed results.
Yes I know the experiment and I know what you are referring to. As far as I know the process that you are talking about is called aversion therapy, they use it to treat very wealthy sex offenders. This treatment is not very effective, however if you think about people who experience something horrible, like for example a brutal heterosexual rape, in this situation a female could revert to homosexuality as a result, thus stopping any heterosexual relations as a result. The aversion therapy for wealthy sex offenders consist of jail time coupled with depo-provera and an unsavory experience at the thought or sight of who they offended (young boys or young girls).
Yes, is possible
In fact I bet you have all ready done that, or at least you know someone who has, and most of the time is not on purpose.
For example; I used to love eating some kind of cereal, and one they I got very sick, and Dr said it MIGHT had been the cereal. I never eat that cereal again.
Maybe there is a special scent you like to smell because it reminds you at someone, and you feel they way you used to feel with that someone.
Maybe you where at the forest, when you learn that a love one has died, and now forest makes you blue
Etc. etc
Possible? Yes
Probable? I don't know, but definitely possible.
Can one make money doing it? Yep, sure can: http://www.schickshadel.com/treatmentpac...
Is Michael Faraday spinning in his grave when people say "Faradic counter conditioning"? I would imagine so, but have no evidence.
