Advertising cars that do good in accidents seem like a psychological mistake because it subconsciously puts it
in people's minds that they will have an accident if they have this car, expecially commercials that show the car in an accident. I think the older approach of showing someone with the advertised car with a pretty scantily clad woman next to him is much for effective, or whatever combination works for the target audience. In other words show car in positive circumstance rather than negative circumstance.

In the case of automobiles, a car wreck is universally recognized as a likely occurrence during ones lifetime.
So, we need to be prepared. If we can find a car that we sense is safer than most, we may tend to be influenced by that fact during the buying process.
