in people's minds that they will have an accident if they have this car, expecially commercials that show the car in an accident. I think the older approach of showing someone with the advertised car with a pretty scantily clad woman next to him is much for effective, or whatever combination works for the target audience. In other words show car in positive circumstance rather than negative circumstance.

I think people feel safer in cars that are advertised that way. However I do see your point. And as for the scantily dressed woman thing, sadly, some men are not attracted to that because they are gay. blech.

I believe that most people are continually running through what if scenarios in their heads, preparing themselves for situations which may arise in the future.

In the case of automobiles, a car wreck is universally recognized as a likely occurrence during ones lifetime.

So, we need to be prepared. If we can find a car that we sense is safer than most, we may tend to be influenced by that fact during the buying process.
